For three centuries, cane covered this island. Enslaved and indentured hands planted and cut it, building fortunes that were shipped somewhere else. Gold is what was always the island's own: the sunshine, the abundance, the wealth no one could export. Cane & Gold doesn't romanticize that era. It honors the people who worked the land, survived it, and grew a culture that outlasted every empire that tried to own the soil.
