Some strength is loud. Some of it is kept, passed hand to hand, held in stillness by a people who were told they owned nothing and built a kingdom anyway. It was a kingdom of culture, faith, and family, not of crowns, and no one could take it from them.

In the flag, black is foundation: the African heritage everything else grows from. Here it is worn as it was lived, quietly, with the whole island engraved black on black, the fortress, the peak, the pelican, the poinciana, visible only when the light finds it. Color is held back for what matters most: the flag sash, the crest, and the gold arms on the back.
